Please indicate relevant and necessary technical details about the ideal conditions of presentation/exhibition (single or multichannel, cinema set-up, projection, LCD screen, size, etc).

–> The general theme of Privacytopia is broad: datafication. It relates to topics as privacy, surveillance and data usage. But also AI, machine learning, IoT, robotics, cyborgs, border control, e-waste, ecology, etc. We are open to a wide range of interpretations within the realm of art and datafication, privacy, etc. If you feel your work relates to datafication, don’t hesitate to apply. Please indicate in the ‘Artist Statement’ how your work relates to datafication.

–> If you have additional information or changes, please end them to us, referring to your original submission. We will do our best to addapt. If this is not possible, we will let you know and explain the issue.
–> YES
–> We will communicate about the budget after the pre-selection has been made. There is a genral budget for the open call, that will be divided among all selected projects.
–> We rather don’t put artist in competition with each other. No, there is no ‘best of the best’ selection.
–> The festival does not engage in commercial activities. The festival does not offer artworks for sale and will not charge a commission if the exhibition is the reason for a sale (although a small donation to the organization would certainly be appreciated).
–> We are open to (and even encourage) all kinds of media, actions, engagements. From video to painting, from music score to text based work, from performance to action, from workshop to community engagement.
–> The work from the open call is part of Privacytopia Academy program. It is in parallel to the main program curated by Régine Debatty. The selection from the open call will be a curated group show. If necessary works will be presented in an alterantive way (for example: performances, workshops, filmprogram, solo presentations).
